“I have played on many Links courses around the world” said the awe-struck visitor to the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club (situated halfway between Port Elizabeth & East London) “but I’ve yet to gaze on a finer sea view than that from some of your fairways” He went on “and the delightful Springbok, Impala, scurrying flock of Guinea Fowl and the giant tortoise; what wonders and what a fine golf course as well,” He shook his head in disbelief.

“Yes, and in winter you will often spot a whale rolling its monstrous back out of the sea,” replied the club captain, with just a hint of a self satisfied grin on his face.

Port Alfred widely known as the “warm heart” of the Sunshine Coast, is a small picturesque town straddling the banks of the magnificent Kowie River (navigable for 29kms) and is one of South Africa’s premier holiday destinations. On either side of the river mouth pristine white beaches stretch for miles and the sandy shores are lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Besides the magnificent Golf Course the area boasts many other attractions which will ensure a most memorable visit. We hope to see you soon!
