“Yes, and in winter you will often spot a whale rolling its monstrous back out of the sea,” replied the club captain, with just a hint of a self satisfied grin on his face.

Port Alfred widely known as the “warm heart” of the Sunshine Coast, is a small picturesque town straddling the banks of the magnificent Kowie River (navigable for 29kms) and is one of South Africa’s premier holiday destinations. On either side of the river mouth pristine white beaches stretch for miles and the sandy shores are lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
