With the RPAGC Ladies’ Open Championship taking place the next day, the gentler gender were
reluctant to play in Saturday’s mixed competition and consequently only 11 players turned out for the
7.30 am draw into one 3-ball and two 4-balls. Weather conditions were perfect; sunny and warm with
gentle westerly breezes.
The winners, Glyn Renecle, Derek Sinclair, Yvonne and Rick Hill scored 84 points to pip runners-up
Eleanor Thomson, Lynette Harbrecht, Eric Segers and Terry Harris by four points.
The most golf was played by Heather van Harmelen, Fanie Smit and Len Bohnen who found the course
slow and long in carding a lowly 73 points.
Nobody hit the green on the 8th

for the club’s bottle of wine but Eric Segers still managed to sink a birdie

there. Glyn Renecle also had a 2-club, her effort finding the hole on the 11th.

Derek Sinclair shot the best nett round of the day (72).
