Cloudless skies with a chilly and blustery north-easterly wind saw 17 players brave the early morning cold to play Saturday’s Fishaways Port Alfred Mixed 2-to-count Stableford competition. The field was drawn into two 4-balls and three 4-balls.

The “bachelor herd” of Eric Segers, Guy Cash, Tim and Greg Shanks were the easy winners having amassed 88 points. Derek Sinclair, Nick Oosthuizen and Glynnis Renecle filled the runners-up slot carding 79 + 5 = 84 points. All these players were rewarded with Fishaways‘ vouchers. Many thanks to the sponsors for their generosity.

Lynette Harbrecht, having just returned to the Sunshine Coast after several weeks cooling down in Alaska, might still have been feeling the chill of the Arctic as she and her partners, Barrie Brady and Juan Southey only managed to card 71 +5 = 76 points for the longest walk of the morning.

Nick Oosthuizen and Greg Shanks both managed to birdie the par three 8th, while Tim Shanks did the same on the par three 11th.

The best nett round was shot by Guy Cash (70) and Maureen McGarvie’s drive proved to be closest to the pin on the 8th to win RPAGC’s bottle of wine.
